The mosque's founder, Hafiz Patel, remained its leading figure until his death in 2016. The trust that runs it, Anjuman-e-Islahul Muslimeen of UK, has a governing document dated June 1975. The Markaz is the European centre of the Tablighi Jamaat, co-ordinating its activity across Britain and hosting large annual gatherings (ijtema).
