## The five daily prayers (Salah / Namaz / Salat)

Every Muslim performs five daily prayers at times set by the sun’s position. The times change a little every day and vary across UK cities by latitude and longitude.

Fajr Dawn

Begins at true dawn and ends at sunrise. Summer twilight at UK latitudes can require an adjustment; follow the timetable used by your mosque.

Dhuhr Midday

Begins after the sun passes its highest point. The clock time varies with location, season and the change between GMT and BST.

Asr Afternoon

Standard Asr uses one shadow length; Hanafi Asr uses two. Both account for the shadow already present at solar noon. Choose your setting in the table.

Maghrib Sunset

Begins at sunset. The published time can include a small precautionary adjustment. In Ramadan this is also the start of Iftar.

Isha Night

Begins after evening twilight. Methods and summer adjustments differ, so check the source and confirm your congregation time locally.

## Frequently asked questions

What are today’s prayer times in the UK?

There is no single prayer time for the whole UK. Choose your city and date to see Fajr, Sunrise, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib and Isha in UK local time. The homepage initially shows London. Your selected city is remembered on this device.

Which calculation method does this site use?

London, Watford, Slough and Woking use the London Unified timetable by default. Other listed cities use Muslim World League (MWL: Fajr 18°, Isha 17°), with a one-seventh-of-the-night adjustment where applicable. You can choose another method and Standard or Hanafi Asr in Settings. These are this site’s defaults; your mosque may use a different timetable.

Are these prayer start times or mosque congregation times?

The daily table shows when each prayer time begins. Iqamah or jama’ah is the congregation time set by an individual mosque and can be later. Jummah sessions are also set locally. Use your mosque’s current official timetable for attending congregation.

Why are Fajr and Isha different on other apps?

Apps and mosques can use different dawn and twilight angles, high-latitude rules, coordinates, rounding or published timetables. London Unified is a published timetable rather than a generic angle calculation. Compare the date, method and Asr setting before comparing two sets of times.

Do the times account for British Summer Time?

Yes. Times are displayed in Europe/London: GMT in winter and BST in summer. The next-prayer countdown uses that time zone even when you visit from abroad. Calendar dates change at UK midnight.

Is Sunrise a sixth daily prayer?

No. The five daily prayers are Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib and Isha. Sunrise is included to show the end of the Fajr prayer window; it is not a sixth obligatory prayer.

How can I print or save a timetable?

Choose Monthly timetable for your selected city. You can move between months, print the timetable or download an iCal calendar. Check the method and Asr setting before saving. Browser reminders work only while the tab remains open and your device is awake.

Is UK Prayer Times free, and is my location stored?

The site is free to use without an account. Location access is optional: Use my location finds the nearest listed city on your device. Coordinates are not sent to us. Your chosen city and calculation settings can be saved in your browser.
