## What is Salah?

**Salah** (صَلَاة) is the second pillar of Islam — five daily prayers at times set by the sun's position. Also called **Salat** or **Namaz**, each prayer has a specific window: Fajr at dawn, Dhuhr at midday, Asr in the afternoon, Maghrib at sunset, and Isha at night.

## What is the difference between Salah start time and iqamah?

The numbers on this site are **start times** — the moment the prayer window opens. **Iqamah** (jamaat) is when the congregation stands, chosen by each mosque. There is no fixed gap: Maghrib is often within minutes, while other congregations may be much later or at a fixed clock time. Treating a start time as the mosque clock is the most common mistake we see in correction reports. Confirm locally; we only publish a mosque iqamah when we have that mosque’s own timetable URL.
