After an earlier Lyndhurst Road house was sold due to planning difficulties, the Society purchased the Ivy Arch Road premises in 1994 and established Masjid Assalam, the town's main mosque. The downstairs main prayer space was refurbished in 2005, and the centre today serves a community of over 1,500, offering five daily prayers, Jummah, a women's hall, a madrasah and an Islamic library.
