Dua When Beginning a Journey

The Prophet ﷺ taught a specific supplication to be recited when mounting a vehicle or beginning a journey. This dua — combining a Quranic verse (43:13-14) — acknowledges that the vehicle and the journey are gifts from Allah and asks for a safe return.

Translation

Glory be to He who has subjected this to us, and we could not have subdued it ourselves. And indeed, to our Lord we will return. O Allah, we ask You during this journey for righteousness and piety, and for deeds that are pleasing to You. O Allah, make this journey easy for us and fold up the distance for us. O Allah, You are the companion in travel and the successor [guardian] over the family.
